Cornish Cup Rules 2019

The Cornish Cup is a season long points competition based on all open time trials in Cornwall, with your best 8 placings out of the 15 races to count in 2019. If a significant number of races are cancelled, as happened in 2015 and 2018, then the number of qualifying races will be reduced proportionately. Only members of Cornish Cup affiliated Cornwall based cycle clubs are eligible for the championship. PLEASE NOTE: you can only score points from the date that your club is affiliated.

There is no need to register or enter, just make sure your club has paid the affiliation fee for 2019 to Tony Farnell of Penzance Wheelers/, ride the counting events, and your points will be allocated and added up as the season progresses.

Points: 100 points for the winner of each counting event, 99 points for second place, 98 for third and so on. Awards (presented at the at the 4-up Team Time Trial on Sunday 15th September). The series winner will be presented with the Cornish Cup to be held for one year. Also, as far as funds allow, awards for: top three overall, first team of four(see below for more information), first in age categories (40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59 and 60+), first lady, first juvenile/junior, best newcomer man and woman, most improved man and woman, and the Cornish Cup Challenge is awarded from riders who score points in every round.

Qualifying date for age groups will be the date of the first race of the season, so that we do not have riders changing age groups part of the way through the competition.

Awards only applicable to riders who complete at least 8 events. In the unlikely event of a tie, the highest aggregate point score will decide the winner.rnThe Challenge Award will go to the rider with the highest aggregate score over all the races. So the winner must have completed every open race.

The men's, women's and junior team awards will go to the first affiliated club teams to finish in an open team time trial. If there is no Cornish team time trial, then the team award will be decided by the best aggregate points score for 4 riders from the individual rankings.

Clubs need to affiliate for 2019 by sending a cheque for £15 (payable to Tony Farnell) To pay by bank transfer contact Tony Farnell for bank details.
